Our mission: Climbing is a playful, enriching activity for children of all ages, and we want to help the next generation of climbers discover the sport in a safe and friendly environment!
Our recommended age for young climbers if 4+, however all aspiring climbers are welcome at our centres!

To get The Arch’s Supervision policies up to industry standards, we are making some changes. These changes are coming in to help create a safer environment for all of our visitors from youngest to oldest.
Please note that any adult who is supervising a child at either The Arch or Stronghold must have bouldered before and will complete a form specific to supervising that individual as well as some safety questions at reception.
There is no charge for non-climbing adult supervisors at any time!
At Arch Building One+:
· Children aged 9-13 must be supervised by an experienced adult, regardless of climbing experience. The supervision ratio is 1:1 and the adult is welcome to climb.
· Children aged 4-8 must be supervised on a 1:1 basis by an experienced adult but in this case, the adult can not climb at Arch Building One+ whilst supervising. If there are two supervising adults for one child, then one adult can climb at a time during the supervision.
· Children aged 0-3 can not be on the matting at Arch Building One+. An experienced adult can bring a child of this age into the centre and can climb as long as the child is secured in a buggie or pushchair off of the mats. If there is more than one child aged 0-3 and only one adult, then climbing is not possible.
At Arch Surrey Quays:
· Children aged 6-13 works exactly the same is ages 14-17 except there is no option for unsupervised climbing.
· Children aged 4-5 must be supervised on a 1:1 basis by an experienced adult but in this case, the adult can not climb at Arch Surrey Quays whilst supervising. If there are two supervising adults for one child, then one adult can climb at a time during the supervision.
· Children aged 0-3 can be on the mats at Arch Surrey Quays but only in the kids corner near the window. One experienced adult can supervise one child of this age and can’t climb whilst supervising. If the child does not wish to climb, the adult can follow the same policy for ages 0-3 as at Building One+.

To get The Arch’s Supervision policies up to industry standards, we are making some changes. These changes are coming in to help create a safer environment for all of our visitors from youngest to oldest.
Please note that any adult who is supervising either a child or a novice adult at either The Arch or Stronghold must have bouldered before and will complete a form specific to supervising that individual as well as some safety questions at reception.
Bigger kids aged 14 years old and over can climb unsupervised in our centres at any time as long as they have prior Bouldering experience.
A parent or guardian has to fill out a parental consent form and an online registration form for the young person whether they are climbing unsupervised or not.
At Arch Building One+:
· The new unsupervised junior minimum age is 14. Children aged 14-17 can climb unsupervised providing they have previous bouldering experience, their registration form is completed by the parent or guardian and they pass a quick safety assessment with the team at reception on their first unsupervised visit.
· Children aged 14-17 without prior bouldering experience must be supervised by an experienced adult on a 1:1 basis. The adult is welcome to climb as well in this case.
At Arch Surrey Quays:
· The new unsupervised junior minimum age is 14. Children aged 14-17 can climb unsupervised providing they have previous bouldering experience, their registration form is completed by the parent or guardian and they pass a quick safety assessment with the team at reception on their first unsupervised visit.
· Children aged 14-17 without prior bouldering experience must be supervised by an experienced adult. This can be on a 1:2 basis. If the adult is supervising two children of this age they can not climb. If supervising one child of this age, they can climb!

key points
Building One (Bermondsey Tube) does not have any kid’s areas or climbing routes for kids, but our other centre Surrey Quays (Canada Water Tube) does have kids areas and climbing routes for kids.
Climbing centres are not soft play zones, and can be really dangerous for everyone if people don’t behave safely. If some of our entrance policies seem a little bit strict, please remember that we are only trying to keep everyone safe!
There is no charge for non-climbing adult supervisors at any time, but they must have prior bouldering experience and have completed Registration form for the child they are supervising, listing them as the responsible adult.
